In this article, we will cover how StackZone calculates its monthly fee for AWS users and how this is reflected in StackZone’s invoice.

How StackZone’s Monthly Fee is Calculated?

StackZone monthly fee depends on different factors:

  • Customer’s plan
  • Customer's cloud consumption for the month
  • Purchase option (AWS Marketplace or Direct Customers)

AWS Marketplace Customers:

Every month, AWS Marketplace calculates the customer’s cloud consumption in USD. The monthly cloud consumption excludes the following charge types:

  • AWS credits
  • Taxes
  • Reserved instances upfront coverage discounts
  • Any special discount provided by AWS

Once AWS Marketplace calculates the customer’s cloud consumption, this amount is converted into units used to calculate the customer’s monthly fee based on the customer’s plan. This will be included in the AWS bill as an AWS Marketplace product.

Direct Customers:

Every 1st day of the month at 5:00 am UTC, StackZone requests every customer’s cloud consumption for the previous month in USD. The monthly cloud consumption excludes the following charge types:

  • AWS credits
  • Taxes
  • Reserved instances upfront coverage discounts
  • Any special discount provided by AWS

Once StackZone’s automation retrieves the customer’s cloud consumption, this amount is converted into units used to calculate the customer’s monthly fee based on the customer's plan. Finally, StackZone generates the new invoice. All of StackZone’s invoices and billing information are available in the console.

To access the Billing section in the StackZone console, log in with your credentials and navigate to StackZone Settings > Billing.

F.A.Q.

Q: Why is my StackZone invoice unit different than my AWS bill USD amount?

A: AWS Marketplace Customers: Please take into account the aforementioned excluded charge types.

Direct Customers: Please take into account the aforementioned excluded charge types. Additionally, due to when StackZone requests cloud consumptions (5:00 am UTC every 1st day of the month), there can be some discrepancies as AWS readjusts the amounts until the AWS invoice is created. Historically, these discrepancies have been to the customer’s benefit. It is StackZone’s commitment to adjust any discrepancies if they result in an overcharge.

Q: Can I change my StackZone plan?

A: StackZone’s plans depend on the customer’s engagement commitment. If you would like to evaluate a new plan, please contact us through the StackZone’s chat tool. We will be more than happy to schedule a call to talk about it.

Q: Is there any plan difference between Direct Customers and AWS Marketplace Customers?

A: No, StackZone’s plans do not change based on the invoicing method.

Q: Can I change from Direct Customer to AWS Marketplace Customer or vice versa?

A: No, unfortunately, invoicing method changes are not supported at this time.
