AWS Config Rules: ELB Cross Zone Load Balancing Enabled

ELB_CROSS_ZONE_LOAD_BALANCING_ENABLED

Fernando Honig

Last Update 6 months ago

Description: Checks if cross-zone load balancing is enabled for the Classic Load Balancers (CLBs). This rule is NON_COMPLIANT if cross-zone load balancing is not enabled for a CLB.

Trigger type: Configuration changes

AWS Region: All supported AWS regions except Asia Pacific (Osaka), Europe (Spain), Europe (Zurich) Region

How to Resolve this Manually

Cross-Zone load balancing distributes traffic evenly across all targets in the Availability Zones enabled for the load balancer. In the AWS Console this is Enabled by Default when creating a CLB, but for reference can usually be found in the "Step 5: Add EC2 Instances" phase when constructing a new CLB.
